Level 1 Sports Trainer

The Level 1 Sports Trainers course is designed to provide participants with the basic knowledge and skills to function as a Sports Trainer. These skills include the recognition and management of specific sporting injuries, sports taping and safely removing athletes from play.

The course covers the following topics:

  • Basic Anatomy & Physiology (A&P) 

  • Sports trainer scope of practice

  • Roles and responsibilities,

  • Ethical responsibilities

  • Administration & documentation,

  • Communication

  • Injury Prevention

  • Warm-up, Cool down and stretching

  • Provide basic drugs in sport information

  • Provide basic nutrition information

  • Common sporting illnesses & injuries (hard and soft tissue, overuse injuries)

  • First Aid management of the injured athlete

  • Assessing the injured athlete

  • Trauma- (Soft tissue, fractures, dislocations etc)

  • Environmental illness 

  • Common medical conditions affecting athletes 

  • CPR & AED

Certification

​​

Upon successful completion of the Level 1 Sports Trainer Course participants will receive:

  • A statement of attainment issued by Allen's Training (RTO 90909) for the following units of competency:​

    • SISSS00118: Sports Trainer Level 1

    • HLTAID011: Provide First Aid

    • SISSSCO015: Prepare participants for sport competition

    • SISSSPT001: Implement sport injury prevention and management strategies

  • Professional Sports Trainers Australia  Level 1 Sports Trainer Certificate of Currency​​ (Valid for 12 months)

​​

In order to meet the Professional Sports Trainers Australia requirements and achieve a certificate of currency issued by Professional Sports Trainers Australia (valid for 12 months) students will be required to meet the following industry standards:

The additional requirements for Level 1 Sports Trainer Certificate:

Sports Taping: Ankle, Thumb, Finger, Shoulder, KneeInjury Prevention- Stretching, Warm Up, Cool Down

Basics of Nutrition & Hydration

Concussion Recognition &Management

Basic Spinal Injury Management
 

Duration: 1 day face to face (Pre-Course online theory completed prior to attendance)

Cost- $325- Full Course (Includes HLTAID011  & HLTAID009)

            $250- Participant has current HLTAID011  & HLTAID009

​​

Successful participants will also receive free 12 month membership to Professional Sports Trainers Australia.
